Visiting Prague in the Summer
When we decided to spend a week in Prague during the summer of 2018, it was meant to be a time for relaxing and slowly exploring the city. But visiting Prague in the summer also meant that it was hot and crowded by swarms of tourists (us included!), so finding time to rest during the day was necessary, especially while traveling with an infant. We slept in most days, found breakfast nearby in the mornings, and walked a lot before coming back to our Airbnb for some time to rest before going back out.
Prague is one of those cities that you have to explore by foot. Everything is beautiful and the views along the bridges are breathtaking, especially during those summer sunsets that paint the buildings in a summer glow.
Prague will always have a special place in my heart. It’s where we sat and ate in a Michelin star restaurant (although it no longer holds its star) for the first time with a bit of anxiety though, because traveling with a baby always leaves room for the unexpected. But we didn’t allow that to prevent us from returning to the restaurant again, this time for a quick dessert and coffee. Prague is also where we visited a library that looked like a scene out of Beauty and the Beast. It’s where I tasted a version of an English breakfast that remains my favorite, even after visiting England a year later. It’s where my husband and I paid to walk up what felt like a never ending staircase (while carrying a baby!) just to see the views of the city and the famous terracotta colored rooftops. And it’s where we fell asleep to the distant view of the Prague castle all lit up with lights. So here is my list of recommendations from our stay in this storybook city.
